Zoning Laws Have Roots in Segregation. How Do You Change Them?

Zoning laws in many locations favor single-family homes, a practice that has excluded many less wealthy people and people of color from communities. 7 states now have or are considering "upzoning" laws that would allow for more apartment buildings and multi-family units, and help desegregate housing.
