This State is Giving Native American Tribes a Say in Mascots That Depict Them

Youth organizer Ivy Pete helped Washington state pass a bill that would limit schools' usage of Native American mascots. Schools will have to change their mascot unless they can get a local tribe involved. The bill is "not saying 'no more representing Native American culture, no more talking about Native Americans,' but how can we do it in an authentic and progressive way?" Pete says.
