Chloe Sackier is an EDL systems engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, who deals with the “shortest but most dangerous phase of the mission to Mars.” That’s the Perseverance rover’s entry, descent and landing, or EDL. Sackier joined LX News to explain what makes that part of the landing process so nerve-wracking, and what scientists hope to find if it is successful.
