To Test or Not to Test? The Next Debate for Schools Will Be About Post-Pandemic Standardized Testing

The topic of opening our schools during the pandemic has divided the country. The next big debate will be about what happens once they’re back. Some states have already asked for a waiver to federally required standardized testing in the next school year, and the American Federation of Teachers has called the testing mandate "frustrating." Mike Magee, CEO of the bipartisan Chiefs for Change, tells LX News that some assessment will be necessary for teachers to understand their students' needs as they come back to the classroom.
