Kat Steck, a mom living in Los Angeles, challenged herself to stop buying new clothes for a year when she learned how much fast fashion is hurting the planet. After the year was over, she upped the ante. Today, Steck buys nothing new except for groceries and personal care items, and finds anything else she needs used on social media.
